What if you needed a bike that fed your competitive instinct, but is still practical? The Crockett 5 is worth a closer look...

Cyclocross racing isn't just for fans of mud and cowbells. Racing? Commuting? Dirt road exploring? Every rider has a challenge, be it a long commute, a dirt trail, or even the local 'cross series. Meeting that challenge requires a bike that won't hold you back. Nimble handling is needed, as well as the ability to thrive in all conditions: Smooth pavement, broken pavement, mud, dirt and sand. The Crockett 5 is ready for all of it!

15-time U.S. national champion Katie Compton's input was instrumental in the design of Trek's Crockett cyclocross bicycles, and her experience brought a level of refinement that no other manufacturer can match. A dialed-in geometry that adds stability in sand and mud while still handling well in technical corners is just the start. Precise handling makes for a confident commuter as well. The Crockett 5 Disc is built around a hydroformed 300 Series Alpha aluminum frame, ensuring light weight and incredible torsional strength for instant power transfer. The Crockett's flattened top tube is more comfortable to shoulder during run-ups, and a tapered head tube adds an extra dash of handling precision. A threaded T47 bottom bracket helps to eliminate power-robbing flex, especially during hole-shot sprints from the start line, or just powering away from a stoplight. Out back, 12mm thru-axle dropouts not only provide perfectly aligned hub installation, but also improve the rear triangle's torsional strength. Control Freak internal cable routing keeps the Crockett 5 Disc looking clean, and reduces cable maintenance over a messy 'cross season (or just a weekend!). An adjustable S3 chain keeper mounted on the seat tube eliminates dropped chain issues that might end your race, or just ruin your commute. A carbon fiber IsoSpeed Cross fork boasts 12mm thru-axle dropouts, adding to the Crockett's handling prowess. Need fenders? The Crockett 5 Disc boasts vanishing fender mounts front and rear as well as a removeable seatstay bridge for a rattle-free installation.

The component list of the Crockett 5 Disc is a testiment to 'cross racing ingenuity and durability, as well as a serious nod to performance. SRAM's 11-speed Rival 1 dual-control levers and Rival 1 rear derailleur delivers impressive operation, even in sloppy conditions. Adjustable-reach hydraulic levers are especially useful while wearing heavy gloves during cold commutes or epic frozen 'cross events. A Praxis Alba M30 alloy crankset features a race-ready single 40T chainring, while a SRAM 11-32T cassette brings a wide gearing range for challenging courses. Bontrager brings an alloy tubeless-ready Affinity Disc 700c wheelset wrapped with 32mm Bontrager CX3 Team Issue knobby tires for light weight and excellent handling in gravel and mud. Stopping power in the rain isn't even a question with SRAM Rival 1 hydraulic disc brakes. A Bontrager alloy seatpost, Montrose Comp saddle, accessory-ready alloy Elite Blendr stem and alloy Comp VR-C handlebars finish off this versatile machine.
